The emphasis here is upon close-up encounters with Africa’s spectacular wildlife, from the mighty elephant, the impressive lion or the minuscule termite. But, paired with this, is the assurance of your comfort in this 4 star establishment, decorated in true South African style.

Safari – a Swahili word used originally in early East African times means “long-journey”. Game drives are journeys where you experience through all your senses ... the sights and sounds of the vast surrounds from a private and unique Camp.

Remember the old-style safari and sleeping under canvas? Well there truly is nothing like it! The sounds of the night are closer, the smells are stronger, and the feeling of actually being in the bush is so much more intense. The African safari-styled tents are nestled in between Marula, Knobthorn Acacia and Sausage Trees and overlook a dry river bed, the bush and the Northern Drakensberg Mountains. Each tent is spacious and built in an elevated position with it’s own special view.

Simbavati River Lodge enjoys a unique setting on the banks of the Kruger Park’s Nhlaralumi River in the Timbavati Private Game Reserve. This lodge has a broad appeal, with a traditional safari ambience but with a relaxed contemporary twist in terms of décor, with a choice of tented or chalet accommodation. It caters well to couples and honeymooners with a safari spa and fully equipped fitness centre.

One of its winning charms is the popular waterhole right below the dining deck, much loved by elephant. Between game drives, you could enjoy a game-viewing experience of note just sitting on the deck as wildlife comes and goes from the water.
