All cleaning products and shower gel/hand soaps are 100% eco-friendly, containing ‘beneficial bacteria’ to actively biodegrade dirt in the process of cleaning, thereby eliminating chemical and dirt transfer to the environment. These products are locally produced and not tested on animals. The washing of camp linen and towels is outsourced to a local company in town who only use eco-friendly, biodegradable, hypo-allergenic products.

WILDLIFE

This prime wilderness area boasts the Big Five, a large diversity of antelope species, the entire range of smaller predators, over 500 bird species, and a tremendous diversity of reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates. The landscape is typical of the undulating granitic Lowveld basin with large broad-leafed trees dominating the uplands, followed by Acacia woodlands, which give way to the large trees that form the riverine vegetation in the valley bottoms. Highly productive and open sodic areas dominate along the sandy riverbeds.

SAFARI GAME DRIVES

Given the location and the extensive transversing area in the Timbavati, exceptional game and bird viewing are assured. Tailored safaris are planned around the interests and energy levels of the guests, and whether on a dawn or dusk safari, there are usually no other vehicles seen on the drives.

The central location of the camp offers guests the best opportunity of seeing a host of wildlife and birdlife without being disturbed by other vehicles during game drives and bush walks.

This is true untamed Africa and it’s one of the few places left in southern Africa where you can enjoy such an experience. The location, size, layout and ambience of the camp have all been chosen to enhance the experience for guests. Bateleur is a South African safari adventure without the crowds.

The Timbavati Private Game Reserve offers an exclusive safari wilderness. There are never more than two vehicles at a sighting. So, you don’t have to jostle for position as you may do in a national park.

Guides are also allowed to take the vehicles off road on occasion, to follow some of the Big Seven (for example rhino, lion, leopard or wild dog). This allows you to enjoy up close and personal encounters.

Currently over 40 mammal species are to be found in the Greater Kruger, including the Big 5 of Lion, Leopard, Rhino, Buffalo, and Elephant. The Timbavati is also a birdwatcher’s paradise, as many as 360 species of bird life have been documented here.
